Sunny Wedding At Abbey House Barrow - Lake District Wedding Photographer

Bank Holiday weekends in the UK are renowned for being rainy, however a little mini heatwave gave way to glorious sunny weather just in time for Luke and Samantha’s big day! I arrived bright and early for bridal preparations, where Sam was with her bridesmaids, having her makeup done by her sister who is a makeup artist, how lucky is that? Even though the weather was glorious for a outdoor ceremony, the couple had opted to get married in the Great Hall, in fairness this was a wise choice as Samantha is pregnant and everyone was thankful for the air conditioning (including me)! The Great Hall was styled with lots of wisteria trees and looked amazing, take a look below for some inspiration.

Bridal preparations finished and it was time for the dress reveal, I love a dress reveal, it always makes for amazing pictures of lovely moments, and Samantha’s dad did not disappoint, he had a little tear in his eye. Samantha looked beautiful and had chosen a very practical dress which even had secret pockets, perfect for a tissue and lip balm!

Luke was waiting for his bride and after the ceremony and ‘I Do’s’ were sealed with a kiss, the drinks reception was opened up for all guests to enjoy outside in the warm sun. I whisked the couple off for some portraits before the wedding breakfast meal and speeches. Abbey House has a beautiful old ruin of the former Abbey and so after the meal, I took Samantha and Luke down for some extra portraits over at the old Abbey arches. The cake cut and first dance followed before I left everyone to party on into the evening!
